The Magic of Leadership
Following the invitation of Pivot Projects and Tällberg Foundation GLAC members participated in a session on The Magic of Leadership on March 24, 2021. The Session was part of the "Pivot Week", the first anniversary of Pivot Projects.
The program combined interactive magic, a conversation about transformative leadership and the presentation of several leaders and their work. Five chosen members of the Global Leadership Academy's Community shared their Magic of Leadership stories. Tällberg Foundation called for nominations to their Global Leadership Prize until May 24.
Highlights
Our world is a mess. Pandemic, recession, accelerating climate change, refugees frustrated in their search for better lives, political frustration spilling into the streets:stress and distress are almost everywhere. What can we do—as individuals and as leaders—to change the play, to break out of a truly vicious circle?
How about some magic? Not the “close your eyes and think good thoughts” kind that revived Tinker Bell (although good thoughts are always a good idea), but the kind that can get us to think differently about what seems to be reality. Because, if we think differently about the daunting challenges that seem to be everywhere we look, perhaps they can be transformed into opportunities to make the world a better place.

GLAC Community's Magical Leadership Stories
The Tällberg Foundation is looking for outstanding, values-based global leaders to be nominated for this year’s Tällberg-SNF_Global Leadership Prize . Nominations for this year’s awards are open until May 24, and can be made by anyone, anywhere at www.tallberg-snf-eliasson-prize.org. The Prize is awarded for leaders in any walk of life and from any country who embody global, courageous, innovative and values-based leadership of the kind needed in every aspect of human endeavor. In 2021 we will award two Prizes for established leaders whose track record of accomplishments is substantial and who, in the jury’s judgement, are likely to continue to make important, positive contributions in their chosen field. Each of these awards will carry a $50,000 honorarium. We will also award two Prizes for rising leaders who have already demonstrated high potential and capacity, but the bulk of whose accomplishments are likely to be in the future. Each of these awards will carry a $25,000 honorarium.

Pivot Projects
In the midst of the COVID crisis, a global gathering of volunteers is using collective intelligence, AI, and systems thinking to help create a healthy and prosperous recovery for people and the planet.
By harnessing the expertise and diverse viewpoints of global participants, Pivot Projects seeks to help solve the world’s ecological challenges, including climate change. We aim to influence on two vectors: by making policymakers aware of new thinking and priorities; and by working with people in their communities to help them identify and address their most pressing sustainability issues. We take a holistic view of humanity’s complex relationships with the rest of nature—incorporating not just science but economics, politics, arts, culture, personal development, community, and beliefs.
